Bridgewater – Edmund L. “Ed” Smith, Jr. 79, died Sunday September 20 after a period of failing health. Born in Brockton he was the son of the late Edmund L. and Mary (Guidetti) Smith. Ed was a proud veteran of the US Army having served from 1957-1960. He is survived by his children Michael Smith and his wife Mim of Bridgewater, Peter Smith and his wife Mary of Halifax and Maureen Keillor and her husband Howard of Georgia, his brothers Kevin Smith and his wife Marylou of Norwell and Shawn Smith and his wife Mary of Webster, NH. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held Friday September 25 at 11:00 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Thursday September 24 from 4:00-8:00 PM. Donations in his name may be made to the Charity of One’s Choice.
