East Bridgewater – Alyce K. (Holmes) Cool 92, a lifelong resident of East Bridgewater, died Saturday December 1 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late George Cool. Born and raised in East Bridgewater, in the same home where she remained, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Katherine (Fraser) Holmes and a graduate of East Bridgewater High. She was predeceased by her brother Leonard Holmes and her sister Eleanor Meserve. She had attended the Brockton School of Business and before her retirement had worked many years at the former Commonwealth Shoe of Whitman. She was an active communicant of the First Congregational Church of Whitman and a member of the church’s Everson Club. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Garden Club of Whitman. Alyce truly enjoyed her many dear friends at the First Congregational Church, and was a familiar and friendly face at “Millie’s Lunch” in Whitman her favorite spot to meet and socialize with her many friends. She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews Jeffrey Meserve and his wife Melissa of Marblehead, Deborah Stewart and her husband Ronald of East Bridgewater, Vanessa Ballantine and her husband Joseph of Madison, CT, as well as 10 great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
