Catherine L. (Tibets) McDermott, of Plymouth, a cherished Housewife and mother formerly of Stoughton and Boston passed away after a brief illness on Sunday August 5, 2012. She was 82 years old and the beloved wife of the late Garrett J. McDermott Sr. Loving mother of Catherine F. McDermott of Portland, Maine, Helen L. Quist and her husband Paul of Plymouth, Garrett J. McDermott Jr. and his wife Linda of Halifax and Bridget L. Simpson and her husband Russell of Upton. Other survivors include her brother Frederick P. Tibets of Bridgewater, 10 Grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 2 step – great-grandchildren. She was also a sister to the late Helen O’Brien, James Tibets, Harold Tibets and Ronald Tibets.
Born September 7, 1929 in Boston, Massachusetts, Catherine was a daughter to the late Harold and Helen C. (O’Day ) Tibets. She attended Cathedral High School. Her family, grandchildren and pets of all kinds gave her great comfort and joy throughout her life here on earth.
Visitation will be held on Thursday August 9, 2012 from 9:30 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. in the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. Followed by her funeral service at 11:00 A.M. also in the funeral home. The Deacon Patrick Guerrini, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. All are welcome to attend.
