Mary K. “Molly” (Diamond) Linehan age 89 of West Bridgewater, died peacefully on Monday June 24, 2013 at the Life Care Center in West Bridgewater. She was the loving wife of the late Atty. Joseph F. Linehan.

Molly was born and raised in Brockton a daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Corcoran) Diamond and had been a resident of West Bridgewater since 1962. A 1940 graduate of St. Patrick High, Molly earned her bachelor degree in education in 1944 and masters in 1954 from Bridgewater State College. She had been an elementary school teacher in Randolph and Weymouth until she stayed home to raise her children. In her later years she was a substitute teacher in West Bridgewater.

Molly had been a charter member of the Charity Guild in Brockton where she was a board member and coordinator of its Food Pantry Appeal program. She was also a board member of the Brockton Symphony where she had been the ticket chairperson for 12 years. Mollie enjoyed the game of golf for over 50 years and been a member at the Brockton Country Club, Thorny Lea and Plymouth Country Club. She also enjoyed reading and music but the greatest joy in her life was spending time with her grandson.

She is survived by a son James M. Linehan of Chicago and a daughter Jane F. Centrella and her husband John of West Bridgewater. She was the loving grandmother of Vincent A. Centrella and sister of the late David C. Diamond. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday 5-8 pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Thursday at 9 am for a Funeral Mass in St. Ann Church, West Bridgewater at 10am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Maryann Keith Mitchell, 69, of East Bridgewater, passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday June 25th. She was the beloved wife of Stanley “Mitch” Mitchell.
Born in Whitman, she was daughter of the late Albion and Alice (Fox) Keith. She was the mother of the late Scott Keith Mitchell and sister of the late Sandra Sullivan and Audrey Fuller.
Maryann was a long time resident of East Bridgewater and National Honor Society graduate of East Bridgewater High School. She worked for and retired from Stillman-Sims Tire Company as bookkeeper and “Mother Superior.”
She enjoyed antiquing, crosswords, and was an avid reader. Mostly, she enjoyed being a mom to those who needed one.
In addition to her husband Mitch, she is survived by her daughter Jeannie Keith Cullati and grandson Clay Thompson of East Bridgewater, her brother Richard Keith of Plymouth, her sisters, Margaret Campbell of West Bridgewater and Alice Reilly of MT; also several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday July 1st at 10:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St.(Rte 58 @ the rotary circle) Whitman. Burial will be in the Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater followed by a luncheon at the East Bridgewater Commercial Club. Visitation will be on Sunday June 30th from 1:00-4:00PM.

Helen D. (O’Brien) (Douglas) Ring age 99 years, died peacefully Thursday June 27, 2013 at Baypath Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Duxbury. She was the wife of the late Wilfred J. Douglas and Daniel Ring. Helen was born and raised in Brockton a daughter of the late John T. and Helen V. (Donahue) O’Brien and remained a resident of the city for most of her life.

Helen had been an employee in the Central Supply Department of the Phaneuf and Cardinal Cushing Hospitals. She was an exemplary cook, enjoyed knitting and loved to dance. She also loved to read and was a great fan of all Boston sports teams, especially the Patriots and Tom Brady. Helen’s true joy in her life was her family, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was the devoted mother of Marilyn Adams and her husband Paul of Bridgewater and Linda Guarino and her husband Robert of Barnstable. She leaves 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and was the great grandmother of the late Amandio “AJ” and James DeCoito. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and was the sister of the late Mary Gurney, Agnes Howard, John, Francis and James O’Brien.

Her family is very grateful for the kindness, care and concern shown to Helen by the management and staff of the Baypath Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She possessed an exceptional memory, often reminding her younger friends and relatives of events that happened long ago, or just yesterday.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Monday 4-8 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9 am followed by a funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Bridgewater at 10 am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Richard A. “Dick” Barry Sr., 69, of East Bridgewater, former long time resident of Hudson, died on Saturday, June 29th at Brockton Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Donna M. (Handorff) Barry of East Bridgewater, formerly of Hudson.
Dick was born in Marlboro, son of the late Gerard and Mildred (Pond) Barry. He was raised in Hudson where he attended local schools and was a 1962 Graduate of Hudson High School. He was a member of the football, baseball and track teams at the high school and will be inducted into the Hudson High School Sports Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a member of the football team this November. Dick served in the U.S. Army, Massachusetts National Guard, Co. B in Hudson from 1963 till being honorably discharged in 1969. He was employed by General Motors Co. in Framingham for many years and later worked as a machinist locally until his retirement in 2008. He resided in Hudson until moving to East Bridgewater in 2012 and was a member of the Hudson Elks.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his two children, Richard A. Barry Jr. and his wife Nadine of Worcester, Jennifer Dolan and her husband Edward of Blackstone; his step-daughter, Jessica Cahill and her significant other Keith Pearson of East Bridgewater; his two brothers, Jack Barry of North Carolina, Robert Barry of Hudson; his two sisters, Mildred Tebo of Berlin and Cathy Ghent of Maine. He was the brother of the late Gerry Barry and Michael Barry Sr. He is also survived by his three loving grandchildren, Brandon and Jake Barry, Connor Pearson and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service and celebration of Dick’s life will be held on Friday, July 5th at 8:00 p.m. in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Calling hours will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5th prior to the service. Burial services will be private.

Russell E. Frizzell, Sr. age 86 of Bridgewater died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Monday July 1, 2013. He was loving husband for 63 years of the late Mary E. (Flynn) Frizzell. Russell was born and raised in Brockton a son of the late Vernard and Rita (Rudd) Frizzell and had resided in Bridgewater for the past 10 years.
Russell attended Brockton schools and left to enlist in the US Marine Corps during WWII. He was wounded in Okinawa June 21, 1945 and received the Purple Heart. For many years he was a letter carrier with the US Postal Service in Brockton and retired in 1985.
Russell had been a member of the DAV and American Legion. He had enjoyed many winters with his wife in Nalcrest, Florida. In his free time, Russell enjoyed golf, reading, bowling and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Russell is survived by his children Thomas F. Frizzell, Sr. and his wife Christina of Brockton, Russell E. Frizzell, Jr. and his wife Joanne of Bridgewater, Paul D. Frizzell and his wife Vanessa of Brockton, Mark E. Frizzell and his wife Sandra of Hampton, CT and Janet R. Frizzell-Hancock and her husband Theodore of Brockton; 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Raymond and Richard Frizzell.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Sunday 4-7pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Monday at 9:30 am for a funeral mass at Christ the King Parish at 10:30 am. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:45 pm. Edward F. Cruz, age 84, of West Bridgewater, died July 5, 2013 following a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Mary A.(Hennessey) Cruz. Born and raised in Bridgewater, he was the son of the late Joaquim and Mary (Faria) Cruz. Eddie served in the US Navy and was a resident of West Bridgewater since 1959. Eddie was co-owner of Canducci & Cruz Plumbing in Brockton for 22 years. He was Plumbing Inspector of Bridgewater for 26 years and member of the State Board of Plumbers and Gasfitters for 18 years. Eddie was active in the formation of the West Bridgewater Youth Athletic Association and was also a member of the West Bridgewater Board of Health. He was also a longtime member of Kiwanis Club in Bridgewater. He enjoyed time with his family, playing cribbage, coin collecting and watching sports.

Eddie is survived by four children Dr. Edward M. Cruz of York, Maine; Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz and his wife Rose Marie of Marshfield; John F. Cruz of West Bridgewater and Marybeth Tavares and her husband Jay of Fairhaven. He was the grandfather of Megan, Tim, Jr., Kelsey, Michael, Alex, Katie, Abby and Ben and the late Matthew. He was the brother of Esther Salvadore and Dennis J. Cruz both of West Bridgewater and the late Lillian Andrade. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9am for a funeral mass in St. Ann’s Church West Bridgewater at 10am. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. East Bridgewater – Donald E. Thibodeau 73 of East Bridgewater died Sunday July 7 in the South Shore Hospital after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of 40 years to Mary (Kennon) Thibodeau.

Born at home in Whitman and raised in Whitman he was the son of the late Napoleon and Rita (Cote) Thibodeau and a graduate of Whitman High School, Class of 1959.

Before his retirement he had worked for 7 years as an inspector for the US Government, prior to that he worked 22 years for the Dymo Machine Shop of Randolph.

He was an active communicant of the Holy Ghost Church where he was a longtime member of the church choir. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus of Whitman and had regularly contributed his time and energy to many fund raising activities.

He was an avid and talented golfer and a member of the White Pines Country Club of Brockton. He also enjoyed bowling and had spent several years as a member of a local bowling league. He enjoyed woodworking and playing cards.

In addition to his wife Mary he is survived by his loving children Mark Thibodeau and Michelle Thibodeau both of Middleboro, his sisters Shirley Reinhart of Flowertown, PA and Arlene Tavares of Hanover, PA. He is also survived by his granddaughters Shannon Thibodeau of Plymouth, Kristen Thibodeau of Wareham and Monica Lane of Middleboro and his great granddaughter Kara Rose of Plymouth. He was predeceased by his brother and “best friend” George Thibodeau.

His services will be held Thursday July 11 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Cremation will follow. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday July 10 from 4-8 PM.

Helen M. Corkery of Canton, formerly of Malden and Brighton, died peacefully in her home July 8, 2013. She was 75 years old.

Helen was a retired nurse who formerly worked in the Fernald State School in Waltham, and Winchester Hospital.

Daughter of the late Joseph and Bridget Corkery. Loving sister of Patricia Ellen Corkery CSJ Holy Name Convent in West Roxbury, and Brother Brendan Corkery of Maryknoll Missioners of Natick, and the late Mary J. Pineo. Loving aunt of Robert E. Pineo of Cotuit, Patricia E. Perry and her husband Robert of West Bridgewater, and Thomas J. Pineo and his wife Carol of Canton. Helen is also survived by a grand-niece, Katherine Pineo , and grand-nephews Travis Perry, Matthew Pineo, and Luke Pineo.

Visiting hours in the Roache-Pushard Family Funeral Home 210 Sherman St. Canton, Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 4-8 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Mary (Dole) Ackerman, 80, of Marlborough, formerly of Kingston, MA, passed away, surrounded by her family at Marlborough Hospital Friday, July 12th after a brief illness. Born in Dorchester MA., the daughter of the late Andrew Dole, and the late Florence M. (Ackerley) Dole , she attended Boston-area schools and graduated from the Chandler School For Women, in 1950. She married the late Fred Ackerman in 1956, and settled in Kingston Ma, where she lived for almost 50 years. She was employed at VCA, after which she retired in 2000. Besides her husband, Mary was predeceased by her son, Andrew. She leaves her daughter, Beth Anne Beard, her husband William, and her granddaughter Kathryne, all of Hudson, a grandaughter, Leila Griffith and her fiancee Robert Frangieh of Weymouth, a brother Robert Dole, and his wife Susan, of East Bridgewater, and several nieces and nephews. Mary was an avid dancer and roller skater, as well as a Boston Red Sox fan. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, and devoted love to her family.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 17th at 9:00 a.m. in St. Michael’s Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial services will be held at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may attend calling hours on Tuesday, July 16th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc., 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, or to the MSPCA. Mary’s family would like to express their deepest thanks to the ICU staff at Marlborough Hospital for their compassionate care. Burial will be private.

Margaret E. (O’Brien) Dadak, age 103, of Brockton, died peacefully, Sunday July 14, 2013 at St. Joseph Manor. She was the wife of the late John J. Dadak. Born in North Easton and raised in Stoughton, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Carrigan) O’Brien. Margaret graduated from St. Mary’s Parochial School and was a 1928 graduate of Stoughton High School. She was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and former officer of the Ladies Sodality. Following her husband’s retirement, she and her husband moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where they lived for sixteen years, returning to Brockton in 1994. While living in Florida, she was Secretary of the Ladies Guild at Assumption Church.

Margaret is survived by her children, John A. Dadak of Port St. Lucie, FL, Michael J. Dadak and his wife Susan of West Bridgewater and Marguerite A. Mack of Jupiter, FL; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday 8:30-10:00am, followed by a funeral mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30am. Burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.

RAYNHAM – Richard J. Cunniff, husband of Cheryl (Rodgers) Cunniff, passed away suddenly at his Raynham home on July 22, 2013.
He was 69.
Born in Brockton, he was educated in Bridgewater and had resided in Raynham since 1978.
A U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War, Richard was stationed in Thailand.
A computer programmer, he was employed by Etonic, Inc. for 29 years, and enjoyed reading, cooking, and vegetable gardening.
Besides his wife, Richard leaves a daughter, Kathlene Marsh; a son, Colin Cunniff; and three grandchildren, all of Raynham; a sister, Carol Clapp of W. Bridgewater; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a reception in his honor on Friday, July 26 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the American Legion, 291 Mill St. Raynham.
Donations in his memory may be made to the National Stroke Association, 9707 E. Easter Ln. Suite B, Centennial, CO 80112.

James M. Avitabile age 26 of Bridgewater, died unexpectedly Wednesday July 31, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was the loving son of Ann Ahearn Avitabile of Bridgewater and the late Louis N. Avitabile, Jr. A self employed barber, James was raised in Middleboro and was a 2005 graduate of Middleboro High School.

In his free time James enjoyed BMX biking, football and playing his guitar. He loved spending time with his family especially his father and his step-son Jasiah.

In addition to his mother, James is survived by two brothers Patrick Avitabile of Taunton and Kevin Avitabile of Bridgewater. He was the grandson of Pearl Ahearn of Bridgewater, Louis N. Avitabile, Sr. and his wife Roberta of Hanover and the late James Ahearn and Mary (Sullivan) Avitabile. He leaves his loving girl friend Kayla McCormack and their son Jasiah of Taunton and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He also leaves his nephew Tyler Avitabile and his loving godmother Patti.

Alice M. (Hannigan) Frenette age 95 of W. Bridgewater died Tuesday August 6, 2013 at St. Joseph Manor. She was the loving wife of the late Albert Frenette. Alice was only child of the late Charles and Mary (Mandeville) Hannigan and lived for most of her life in Brockton. She leaves two devoted daughters Paula O’Shea and her husband Alan of Fuguay Varina, NC and Joyce Zarrella and her husband Ted of W. Bridgewater. She was a loving grandmother to six Elaine, Theresa, Alan, Beth, Michelle and Michael; great grandmother to nine and great great grandmother to seven.

Alice had worked as an inspector for 25 years at Component Manufacturing where she had many friends. When she retired she enjoyed going to chapel, listening to books on tape and made many beautiful afghans for family members. She had lived for a time on Esther Drive in W. Bridgewater where she enjoyed luncheons, Mahjong and spending time with friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and wonderful caretakers at St. Joseph Manor.

Foster, Theodore T. 83, of Halifax, passed away at the Tremont Rehabilitation Center in Wareham on August 31. Husband of the late Beryl (Gaul) Foster (1937-2001). He leaves his children; Karen Coffelt of Halifax, Wanda Mikuchonis of Texas, Dawn Foster of Alaska, Kenneth Foster of Plymouth and Hope Foster of Halifax. He also leaves 3 grandchildren; Chrystal Foster, Ryan Mikuchonis, and Alicia Foster and 2 brothers; Donald Foster of ME, and Richard Foster of Germany.
Theodore was born in South Orange, NJ the son of Henry and Ruth (Theberath) Foster. He grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Columbia High School. He graduated from Harvard Divinity School and was Ordained in the Swedenborgian New Jeruselum church as a Minister and worked many years as an organist at various denomination churches while holding different retail jobs over the years. Theodore enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, traveling, photography, reading, hiking (up Mt. Washington), and bicycling trips from NJ to ME. He was a member of The New Jerusalem Church in Bridgewater and attended the Fryeburg New Church Assembly in Fryeburg, ME for many summers. He was in the camp’s Polar Bear club. He raised his family with Beryl in Halifax and enjoyed traveling to Alaska and Texas to visit his children who went to live out of state. He was cared for in his home by his daughters Hope and Karen during his early stages of Alzheimer’s.

There will be a Memorial Service held at The New Jerusalem Church in Bridgewater on September 9, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Theodore’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s association at https://act.alz.org/site/Donation2

Nicholas Hoc, 92 of East Bridgewater, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday September 15th. He was the husband of the late Jane (Grabowski) Hoc.

Nicholas was born in Poland and moved from his small village in the 1950’s to East Bridgewater where he has been a resident for many years.

He was a longtime member of the Christ the King Ukrainian Catholic Church in Boston.

Nicholas was a true craftsman; he built his own house and loved to tinker and work on cars.

He is survived by his son George Hoc of East Bridgewater, his daughter Helen Benton and her husband Lorne of Brockton, his sister Maria Nastagna of the Ukraine, his two grandchildren Nicholas and Christopher Benton; also many nieces and nephews.

His funeral services will be held on September 20th at 8:30AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 @ the Rotary Circle) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00AM in the Christ the King Ukrainian Catholic Church, 146 Forest Hills St., Boston, MA. Visitation will be held on Thursday September 19th from 6:00-8:00PM.

Evelyn M. Giardino, age 103, of Bourne formerly of Bridgewater and Brockton, died Wednesday October 30, 2013 at the Royal Cape Cod Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Bourne after a period of failing health. Born and raised in Brockton, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary E. (McDonald) Giardino. She was a resident of Brockton for most of her life before moving to Bridgewater in 1973. Evelyn attended Brockton schools and was a 1927 graduate of Brockton High School. Her father owned Giardino’s where she worked from 1927 to 1941. After 1941 she worked for the Brockton Post Office in the War Bond Division and later transferred to the US Postal Inspection Service, retiring in 1972 after 30 years.

Evelyn was a member of the 20th Century Catholic Club, the Brockton Garden Club, National Association Retired Federal Employees, the Ousamequin Club and the Golden Ages both in Bridgewater, Friends of Bridgewater Public Library and was a former member of the National Secretary Association. After her retirement she traveled worldwide and also enjoyed summers in West Dennis for over 40 years.

Evelyn is the aunt to eleven nieces and nephews, twenty nine grand nieces and nephews and twenty one great grand nieces and nephews. Her brother Edward A. Giardino and her sisters Alice Batson and Hazel Donovan predeceased her.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Monday 4-7 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9am for a Funeral Mass in St. Ann Church, West Bridgewater at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Alfred J. Voci , age 84 of Bridgewater formerly of Brockton, died Monday November 4, 2013 at St. Joseph Manor after a period of failing health. He was born in Brockton, a son of the late Antonio and Carmela (Ciffelo) Voci and had been a resident of the city for most of his life with the exception of several years in Bridgewater. Alfred was a member of Laborers Union Local 721 and had helped build many schools in the Brockton area.
Alfred lived a simple and quiet life and enjoyed hunting and vegetable gardening.

Alfred was the brother of the late Joseph, Mario, Frank and Tom Voci and Elizabeth Maniofi. He leaves many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte 123) Brockton on Friday 3-5 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Saturday at 8am for a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
